Convenient and fast - fresh food every day
I choose reusable over disposable items as much as possible, except for my refrigerator. After trying and failing - it's often amazing! Every way I could think of to stop freezer burn, I finally gave in and bought this mason jar vacuum sealer. The "food saver" quickly paid for itself because I didn't have to throw away or try to salvage food because of freezer burn or spoilage. In fact, I love it and rely on it so much that I have no problem recommending it to you.
And yes, I'm talking about dry goods. You can vacuum seal grains, spices, coffee, etc. in mason and recycled glass jars that you may already have at home. I especially like to vacuum seal garden vegetables and herbs that I dry in the dehydrator to keep the flavors from expiring until I remember to put them in the back of the cupboard.
Yes, I tried sucking the air out of the bag with a straw. It didn't work. What can be confirmed is that vacuum sealer for jars exist to help preserve our food conveniently.
The vacuum canning jar sealer is very simple:
1. Place the food in a mason jar. You may want to cover the found powders and grains with a clean coffee filter or a piece of paper towel to prevent the vacuum hose from clogging.
2. Place the metal lid on a jar without a metal canister ring.
3. Attach the mason jar attachment to the hose on the vacuum sealer.
4. Place the jar sealer firmly on top of the mason jar.
5. Press the locking lever on the side of the vacuum jar sealer.
6. Press the button on the mason jar vacuum sealer. When the jar is completely sealed, it will automatically close.
That's it, very easy to operate!
If your mason jar doesn't seal the first time, here's a quick troubleshooting guide
1. Check to see if the rubber gasket inside the sealing jar attachment is flat or bent. Remove the gasket, use your fingers to loosen it, and try again. Sometimes this guy will fold or bend when you put the jar on top.
2. You may have too much space in your glass jar. Either dump the contents into a smaller mason jar, or you can add a clean paper towel to the jar to fill the large head space.
3. Check that the lid is properly aligned at the top of the jar.
4. The metal jar lid may have a small bend in it. Place the second metal lid on top of the first lid and try to vacuum seal the jar again.
5. The sealed jar attachment may not be securely fastened to the sealed jar before trying to vacuum seal it.
This is a very helpful thing to do in life. Not only does it save money and time, it avoids wasting food. I think mason jar vacuum sealer is a great tool.
