Sharp blades to cut the perfect cigar for you
How to use a cigar cutter step by step
Learning how to use a cigar punch is easy because it involves only six simple steps.
First, take a clean cigar from the box or humidor. Make sure it is the correct choice to avoid creating a lot of tobacco debris in the cigar and wasting the fine filler. Remember that cigars have pointed caps, which means that cigar punches do not apply to them.
If you have different shapes of cigars, it is best to have the right cutter for each type.
cigar punches come in different cylindrical blade diameters. As cigars have different ring gauge sizes, it is important that you have the right size cigar punch. The diameter of the blade should, of course, be at least a few millimetres shorter than the ring gauge of the cigar. Remember that the narrower the punch, the tighter the tension, and the larger the hole, the looser the tension the easier it is to
Turn on your cigar punch and have your punch cutter ready once you are sure you have a domed cigar on hand. The preparation of your cigar cutter varies depending on the type of cigar punch you have. If your accessory has a fixed cylindrical blade, it may have a cap. Remove its cover and hold its shaft firmly with your thumb and forefinger.
On the other hand, if your cigar punch has a retractable blade, hold it like a stick and place your thumb on the mechanical pusher. Other retractable models have a twist mechanism which works in the same way as any normal lipstick.
Place the cylindrical blade in the central part of the cigar cap. Apply light pressure to the handle of the blade and then gently turn the blade back and forth. Quick movements are not recommended as the blade may cut through the tobacco filler and not just the wrapper.
After punching a hole in the wrapper of the cigar cap, gently pull the blade out. Check that you have not left multiple layers of wrapper material after removing the blade.
Using or working around sharp objects can be dangerous to you and others around you. Always retract or cover the blade on the V-Cut cigar cutter before lighting the cigar.
At this point, your punching session is essentially over. Once you see that you have only cut out the centre cap area and that there is only one round piece of wrapper to discard, you have taken the right steps.
