Metal detectors for all ages

If you are a beginner in metal detecting, I think there are some things to keep in mind when choosing a waterproof metal detector. As metal detectors are an important tool for the activity of metal detecting, here are some things I think you should look for in terms of the best metal detectors for beginners.

What is my first metal detector, this is a question I am often asked and there is no easy answer, new enthusiasts always want to know what is the best metal detector for beginners or which machine should I buy?

The first thing we need to establish is where will you be metal detecting?
It is very important to know where we are interested in metal detecting and as well as specifying the location, we can also choose the right metal detector depending on whether it is in water or dry land. There are several types of metal detector available, depending on the place of use, divided into waterproof metal detectors, and normal metal detectors. This metal detectors for adults can of course also be used in dry land, which is not exclusive. However, there is a significant price advantage in comparison to a simple metal detector. For those who are on a budget and don't intend to do underwater detecting, then I don't think it is a must to buy a waterproof metal detector.

One of the main questions you want to ask yourself when you start getting into the hobby is where am I going to be metal detecting? Are you going to be metal detecting on a saltwater beach, are you going to be detecting on a freshwater beach, in the woods, in farmland, where are you going to be detecting and why is this important? It matters because some metal detectors will not work on wet saltwater beaches, they just can't handle wet saltwater sand or the high mineralisation and conductivity of the saltwater itself. Other machines are not waterproof and are not actually suitable for use in water, whereas if you get the control box wet then their coils may be waterproof and you have damaged the metal detector.

Also be clear about what you are detecting.
If you are looking for gold nuggets, if you are looking for artefacts and relics, or if you are looking for coins and jewellery, you will have to get a specialist metal detector for kids that operates more frequently. These are the things you need to consider when buying your first detector, as different frequencies can provide better depth for different sized targets and a better response to different types of metal. When we decide to just look for interesting coins and metals as a simple hobby, the majority of metal detectors on the market will do the job. If you really want to go deeper into something, then I think a specialist detector is necessary, but will obviously be more expensive.

Once we have clarified our purpose and location, we are in a good position to choose the right metal detectors for us and start a metal detecting journey. Although the prices on the market are inconsistent, there is always one that is right for you.
